Hi all,

I'll be heading up to the Playa Thursday, July 11, in the morning if all goes well.

My plan will be to make GPS coordinates of the site, run back into town and get online in the office with the GPS coordinates for those with GPS units, as well as directions and mile-markers.

Damon LaRose normally has the mast and strobe gear. I will see if I can get ahold of it from him as he will be unable to attend the Playa ROM this year. As my crew did last year, we will try for the open playa for setup. If this isn't feasable, we will head to the west shore of the playa to shelter from the wind if it's an issue. We will also choose a nicer area than last year (due to all the broken glass and spent firearm ammunition found at last years' site) if the west shore ends up being the place.

I'm thinking about acquiring a satellite phone rental before I go, but regardless of what's going on, I will post any radio frequencies I can be reached on. Current playa ops will be informed that I will be monitoring the Gerlach and Work Ranch channels while I'm in the area, and to expect any calls for assistance to be sent out over those channels (emergencies).
